I am making this post to address the issue of slow page loading. Chances are, you've probably noticed it already, and information on the issue was acknowledged though no official global announcement was made.

From anywhere in between 12PM EST to 11PM EST, pages may hang, or require a refresh or two to pull up. Images wont load without a refresh of the page. Or, you'll get a timeout error period.

We're working on this problem, but the fault does not lie with us. I expect this issue to be fixed by December 3rd, and information will be posted then

We've hit another milestone.

5000 JFBs have been registered as of two days ago apparently.

Onward to 6000

On another note, I installed a PHP cacher today, so the script execution time on the bottom will probably be way down more than usual, thus making faster page loads.

Tonight, for about an hour, we had some downtime. Suddenly, our modem stopped working entirely. Nothing could be reached. After calling technical support, the situation seemed fixed, however, in doing so, an entirely new IP address for the server was assigned.

This new IP address is: 67.81.201.151

For most people, it will take only 15 minutes for their provider to see this IP change, then they can access the site and services. However, it can take up to 24 hours for the change to be seen for others. Therefore if you or someone else is experiencing weird page loads, or can\'t get something to load period, please be patient.

If you have a domain name or custom subdomain added to any of the services, please update it now if you used an IP address to point it. Remember that you should never use IP addresses, if you are able to, try setting a CNAME on the domain "jcink.com" This way, when things like this happen, you will simply be automatically updated by me.

Apologies for any inconveniences.

For the past month or so, I have been making some changes, which I'm sure most of you have seen. The main site and projects are now websites all on their own. The new sites are more user friendly, cleaner, and easier to navigate. They give every project its own due space to grow and attract users.

And finally, http://jcink.com are done being design revamped.

There are several highlights I'd like to point out that were done on the main site, those being "My Account", and the new wiki. First, we'll start with My Account. My Account is a new feature that lets you login with your email.

Here, you can manage your existing jcink.com services and other aspects of the site. By registering your services here, you can use this account as a master account or backup to reset passwords on all root accounts. If you have multiple services registered on Jcink.com, having a master account here makes it easy for you - they're all right here, whether you forget the links, need to reset the password, or preform other actions. Adding a service is simple. It will ask you for some information about said service, and once you enter it, you're done -- it's registered in the system. This is a form of administrator protection. If something happens to your admin account on any of the services you own, you will be able to reset the password after you register it here. This is a lot faster than waiting for me to come online and reinstate you, and it's easier. Chat rooms that you own on the IRC chat server can be added in my account, and it'll give you links to free java chat rooms that you can put on your account. And finally, any of your donated and approved "Air-Proxy" subdomains will also be displayed there, ready for use.

The second highlight of My Account which I'd like to bring attention to is the Wiki. A wiki is going to be the new way that documentation and information will be provided about Jcink.com related subjects. The wiki is a closed one however - you cannot just edit it right from the start. You will need approval from me in this topic. After you're approved, (if you do get approved), you can sign in to My Account. THEN visit the wiki, and you'll be able to edit pages. You can even make a wiki account if you would like as well. Remember - to edit the wiki, you always need to login from My Account on the main site first.

Finally, in this site change, a project was dropped. This project is TextfileBB. The open source dev board will be the home for this project now. You can read more about it there. I myself have dropped support for this project, and that is why you do not see it have its own project website any longer. The files are available on the link above, however, and if you were one of those who were interested in this project, I encourage you to read it and possibly join the launchpad team.

Tonight, sometime around 12AM, I will be attempting to install a new 500 Gigabyte hard drive. To do this, the second hard drive (80 Gigabytes) has to come out, and the new one put in. This is to increase capacity for the future. I have already copied all the information over from the second drive during the night, and everything is there. Before install, a quick re-sync of changed, and new files will be done so no new information added today will be lost.

I estimate around 15 minutes of downtime for this if all goes according to plan.

This should not affect anyones content on this server, everything is just being mirrored to a bigger, better hard drive.
