ACP Login Splash
Nov 21 2009, 10:29 PMThe JFB Administration control panel has a new login splash screen. We hope you'll enjoy the updated design.
The design is optimized and tested for view in modern browsers IE 7, 8, and Firefox 3. It should look something like the attached image. Please note that it looks best if you're using the Alpha Blue skin for the Admin CP. Activate it under Admin CP -> General Settings -> Theme choice for the AdminCP. Otherwise it will simply take on the older style.
If you have any issues accessing the control panel after this update, or you find errors in the design, please let us know here. Comments are welcome.
EDIT: I have just updated the logo to match the log in page, and smooth out the text. Hope you all enjoy the new log in page. -Taylor W

I......love.....it...
Thought I hate the question thing. Oh well I guess. It's ok. I'd prefer to be a spoiler where when you click it, the question pops down instead of a pop up.
Any way, THANK YOU JCINK!

Not to shabby jcink

I could probably do something like that at a later date. Initially I thought I'd just go ahead and fit the whole question in, but it looked terrible. That was a quick solution that works for now.

Its a very nice design. I'm glad to see its been changed completely and not just style sheet wise. Good job with the design on this jcink.

More suggestions:
Make it so there's no iframe between that menu, and the actual acp page.
Nov 22 2009, 09:12 PM
I have updated the splash page logo to fit with the page a bit better, and smooth out the text.
Hope you all enjoy the new splash page.

The question thing is only if you have it enabled.

Well it's not like I'm new to Jcink lol. I've been using it for 2 years now. Any way that decreases security.
Nov 23 2009, 07:16 PM
so if you have it set up then why does it say question instead of security question answer or just answer.
The page looks well cool. not sure exactly why it was needed but nice to see a change.

Clicking it draws up the question. That's why. Answer goes in the other box, with that hopefully being understood. You can only see the question by clicking on it. I didn't have any way to fit it in otherwise without it looking bad.

Nov 23 2009, 07:24 PM
Oh I understood it didnt need the smart ass response. No offense Jcink but that is how I took it. You are forgetting about us programming retards that see text (question) and a text box.
I knew what it was and just had to double click in the box and the answer showed but more the more programming retarded then me there may be questions.
The original way was ok and didnt need a change. Unless you added some additional security features with this.

I didn't give you a smart ass response. I have no idea how you possibly took it that way.
I meant it literally: there is no way for me to do it otherwise right now. I'm hoping that people will just click the question link to see it, and know to type the answer in the box. It seemed like an acceptable thing to do for now since I can't fit the actual question in that spot anymore. If anyone has some ideas, I'm open to it.
Also, I wanted to give it a facelift. The current design somewhat annoyed me on my wide screen resolution because it stretched across the whole page. It also brings the login up to date a little bit with what I'm seeing on forum software today. Just a little stepping stone to working on the ACP.

Well I was going to tell you how I took it that way until 4 PMs hit my box and just said to let it go.
But being the typical "that Son of a ***** s pushing the envelope" type person, I will.
So because of the way it looks "on your" wide screen monitor. You decided to change it. OK understood your hosting so go ahead and make it pretty for "your" wide screen monitor.
So is this what we can expect as far as updates? If it don't look good on "your" widescreen monitor then we get a update? Not that Jcink needs updates hell we have more than any other forum hosting service.

dude you need to take a friken chill pill and calm the hell down.. given how it looks on HIS wide screen monitor? 90% of my visitors HAVE widescreen monitors. come on bro get real. If it looks good on widescreen and it looks good on all the other. at least jcink does all this stuff for you, you try going to another host see what **** they do for you. nothing....

I'm not the only one with a wide screen monitor. I'm on 1440x900 resolution. This is a growing resolution, and some people have them even higher than mine. That's why a lot of sites have fixed-width designs these days. It wasn't the first time someone had told me about the problem either.
That was just one point. I'm not allowed to change a design aspect of the service anymore? I really thought the new design looked nice. Most of the time I design something that I put on the service, yes, I do it because I think it looks good! I asked for feedback on it as well in the development forum, it seemed pretty well received, so I went with it.
I'm not really sure why you're trying to make this all about me, or why you're tearing into me for working on something as simple as a fresh look. I can understand if you don't like it, that's your opinion, and I'm even willing to try to work on this question thing.
I didn't mean to insult you, and I said that. Now you're turning a lot of your anger over it toward me now.

Well you certainly beat the countdown me and a couple others had going on MSN to see how long until one of the JCINK Elite would chime in.
Kudos man good show.
I too have a wide screen and just didn't understand why it was needed now I know and forgive me remember your Royal JCINK Eliteness, I am a programming retard, your humble retard apologizes.
All hail the.

Just wanted to stop by since I haven't logged on just to say happy thanks giving to everyone in the community... but guess drama is on?
Kilsek relax, please.. as much as Jcink does deal with on a general bases you must under stand this is more of a give and take then a "get all you want when you ask for it."
What I mean is, Jcink opened this service to all ipb lovers (Unlike invisionfree's... huge ad's and asshole administrators.. with cheap security.. ) Not trying to throw them out there but that's why they sort of designed they're own bulletin board software to get around having to update constantly and start fresh for what ever reasons.. but thats getting off point.
Now, back to the task at hand. Improves and repairs are two differen't things. Repairs can be quick or take weeks on end for Jcink, that is the bottom line. I'm sure he's like the rest of us and not working on php scripting or learning html ( <_< ) all day and night trying to make a couple of people happy for self esteem. The ACP does look nice... damn ... wish I was into IPB.. but anyway you got to admit the old layout always being white with bright screens was annoying at some point.
Look, nobody says you have to take a support ticket before you get help. The bottom line is if you want things free, and the way you want it to run then you can do it yourself or wait for it to be fixed. Pushing things to get fixed is pointless unless it's a security hole meaning you would have to start all over if you was supposibly hacked. Take some time away from the keyboard, and be happy with the service you got now or just pay for the damn new versions that come out.
Hi guys!

Gladly. Noticed on the top one you've been waiting a while, apologies.
Let's keep this thread on topic though pertaining to the new login. I think I might go ahead draw a few ideas for the security question, not sure.
QUOTE I do have interest in what you have to say and I am not trolling. But what ever I'll put it to rest sorry for voicing what I feel.
The opinion part is not what annoys me. I don't care if you completely hate the new page and wanted to say that. In fact, I want you to go ahead and say when you don't like something. There's a difference between that and just attacking me, and that's what you were doing. I'm just going to leave it at that.

I just wanted to state that this is merely an appearance changer to make the service look more appealing to others, and more friendly for our current users. This topic is to notify people of the change.
This topic is not to bash others, act rudely toward other community members, or point out bugs that have not yet been fixed at this time.
I don't like to name names but Kilsek, please refrain from posting in this topic any further. We thank you for your input but at the same time there is a limit to all good and bad. Thank you.
