Domain Company Down
Dec 1 2006, 05:50 PMOk,
So, for some people Jcink.com works (and all subdomains, box2.jcink.com *.b1.jcink.com, etc), for some it isn't right now, and the reason is that...
http://everyDNS.net is down.
This is the server where I host my domain, and all subdomains. It's seperate from the main server and is a totally different company.
They have over 292,474 domain records on their system, mine being one of them... so since they're offline, so is everything else.
I really don't know why they're offline, or what happened to them, but I'll keep you posted.
This is unusual, because they haven't been down like this since 2003 as far as I know (according to google) so yeah...
There's nothing I can do from my end to solve this since it isn't my problem, just have to wait it out.
Apologize for the downtime.

EveryDNS is back online and the site is working properly again.
The cause of the downtime has yet to be revealed, however.

Does this mean my forum will go up and down since I use Yahoo Domain?
Dec 2 2006, 01:14 AM
since you use yahoo domain, your forum won't go down.
the only prob you might have on your forum is from my arcade code, which uses a jcink.com address. if you find its killing your forum, take out the arcade code temporarily. I checked your forum earlier while everything else was dead; it wasn't dead.

far easier said than done.

Cause:
QUOTE Update #3: December 2st, 2006. EveryDNS is currently under a wide-scale DDoS attack. The attack is currently being mitigated and service is restored. All services are under close watch by a team of network administrators around the world.
I want to give a special thanks to Richard Steenbergen at nLayer for going above and beyond the call of any network operator to help keep EveryDNS online and to Barrett Lyon of BitGravity for his excellent abilities in turning a 400mbps attack into a 2mbps stream of valid DNS requests.
So, they're being attacked... big time.

I would like to report that
http://everydns.net/again, my provider, is offline.
This is getting to be highly annoying, but I will continue to stick with this guy because he's really trying hard.
There is some rumor about it being something to possibly do with this, how true it is I do not know as of yet:
