IRC Chat
Feb 27 2007, 02:59 PMThis is old news, but lately the IRC has died off once again, and it never seemed to have gotten a proper announcement, so here it is for all who don't know about it. Besides, I'm sick of looking at that old news article. <_<
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It's just a chat protocol where anyone can come in and chat live.
Joining the Jcink.com IRC room can be done in a lot of ways:
1. With the Java Chat ( http://support.b1.jcink.com/index.php?act=javairc )
Visit there for the Java IRC client. You need to have Java installed to use it (obviously). Be sure to hit YES to the security message that comes up, it will not harm your computer. Just go to it and you're in.
2. On an IRC client like xChat, mIRC, etc... if you use these, you should know what to do. The address is irc.earthblot.net, port 6667, room #jcink.com
3. On trillian
-Add a new connection
Server alias: earthblot
irc.earthblot.net:6667
Then pick w/e you want for username and nickname, and user info. Add it, then use the little irc light on trillian, -> join #jcink.com.
4. The IRC OPs (Operators, AKA Admins...) (in no particular order)
-kyzaskiwi
-DarkTeengeek or Teengeek
-Skullmonkey
-Me (<_<)
-Irayo (Not really a room manager, but he's the earthblot owner.)
And remember to play nice, and follow all the main forum rules, too.

Yep, that I am.
I haven't set any channel modes in a while, but I'm around a lot, so if anyone needs help with IRC settings or something feel free to ask. I can also, as the owner of the Earthblot network, set any channel mode, but I have recently refrained from doing so unless given express permission from the channel owner (which in this case would be Jcink).
And of course everyone is welcome to the IRC, excepting spammers and other malicious people....
So have fun, and come in.
And stay in the room; even if nobody's there they'll be there soon, and if you just leave then you'll miss them.
Some alternate IRC client choices: HydraIRC, KVIrc, Konversation(Linux), gaim(it sucks for IRC, but hey), mIRC, X-Chat, Trillian, irssi(text-based), ChatZilla (a Mozilla plugin), PJIRC. Also ones that I haven't tried: Bersirc, Visual IRC, IrcII (the original Linux client), Snak, Ircle, Colloquy, Opera's built-in IRC client, IceChat.
That's all I have to say for now...

ircII stinks but than it was written back in the 70s so i don't set the bar to high. if you really need a command line linux client not the the name is really b wordX is the one u want. Also if you want a web based client htttp://ircatwork.com is one i like. and if u see i guy named Kesha set modes in the room report it Jcink or myself
