Emergency Maintenance
Jul 11 2007, 06:02 PMThe errors with "server too busy" have gotten out of control in the past 3 hours or so. The pressure is extremely great on the system now, and the RAM will not be here for a few days. Therefore in an attempt to ease it, I'm going to move database information over to the second hard drive. This requires me to turn off SQL and go down but there's no other way to do this.
I don't have a set time for this to be done, but if I see this continue for longer, I will move it. In any case, at midnight for sure I will attempt to move it over.

I apologize.
However, I failed to move it all over, something stopped the process from moving it in, I know what happened but I do not want to keep things down any longer for today, if possible. A full restart was made which might help out.
This will happen again at midnight or earlier if i see it getting bad.

Well a way to make it up is two things that i thought of:
1. The old type of site backups are put back. The old one was way faster
2. Let us import our own skins or let every board owner request one skin to be added.
Those are just my thoughts. You don't really have to make up anything. Just letting us use your service is enough.

The old type of back ups used a lot of the servers resources, and were very slow for fair size boards. And the Skin Importing feature has been removed due to changes in the services coding for some of the features offered. If you had access to importing full skin sets, some features could be removed due to HTML templates and such.
Also he is notifying you about what happened, it's not his job to make it up to you, he's just being nice, and may possibly think of a little something. If you like his service, why don't you try making it up to him?

Thats why i said that at the end of it. He said he wanted to. So if he did want still, those are just some ideas for him.

We're back. However, we're not on the second disk yet. I got a lot transferred and accomplished a lot though. I also lowered some settings to try to make for less i/o usage on the drive and hopefully that'll help until the RAM comes.

Take your time Jcink, I don't see a huge rush in this. I believe its very stressing, or at least thats what I believe. Take a hour break every know and then so you don't get bloated.
