IP Change

Nov 16 2007, 07:36 PM

Tonight, for about an hour, we had some downtime. Suddenly, our modem stopped working entirely. Nothing could be reached. After calling technical support, the situation seemed fixed, however, in doing so, an entirely new IP address for the server was assigned.

This new IP address is: 67.81.201.151

For most people, it will take only 15 minutes for their provider to see this IP change, then they can access the site and services. However, it can take up to 24 hours for the change to be seen for others. Therefore if you or someone else is experiencing weird page loads, or can\'t get something to load period, please be patient.

If you have a domain name or custom subdomain added to any of the services, please update it now if you used an IP address to point it. Remember that you should never use IP addresses, if you are able to, try setting a CNAME on the domain "jcink.com" This way, when things like this happen, you will simply be automatically updated by me.

Apologies for any inconveniences.

oops sorry post a problem about mine same time you did this.

  2. Jcink Says:

    It's alright, no problem.

The bad thing about this is that the IP address will probably change again when business class internet is installed on Monday... so please everyone, make sure you point your domains as a CNAME if possible. If you need help doing so, I will gladly assist you here.

    * Update: for now, business class internet was postponed until a later date.

I'm having a little problem. When I try to re-set it to this IP address it tells me " ^ The IP address you entered is invalid. Please enter a non-private IP network address"

    Any ideas?

  4. Jcink Says:

What DNS provider are you using?

  5. Delta Says:

No-IP. Since this is just a hang-out forum buying a domain name would be pointless.

  6. Jcink Says:

Maybe try a CNAME of b1.jcink.com, see if that works.

I just updated my no ip domain with no problems. Are you sure you're selecting "A" record for the IP?

  7. Delta Says:

Yes, I am using the A type And unfortunately it doesn't let me use CNAME.

  8. Jcink Says:

    Wait,

    are you putting in exactly:

    67.81.201.151

    or 67.81.201.151.

  9. Delta Says:

Ah that's right, sorry >.< That was stupid of me, I should have seen the dot at the end.

  10. Jcink Says:

It's ok. I have updated the first post. I imagine it might confuse others as well.

Mine is working again, however, myself personally can't go anywhere off the index.

  12. Jcink Says:

Give your ISP time to update, hopefully the changes will be in effect soon.

  13. mysticwizard2005 Says:

Mine seems to be fine now. No Issues

  14. leafsfan7 Says:

    Yeah same here.
