IP Change
Jan 5 2008, 12:47 PMToday, since around 10 o clock AM, we had some downtime. The modem stopped responding to the access point and a hard refresh was needed to regain connectivity.
This new server IP address is: 67.81.105.153
For most people, it will take only 15 minutes for their provider to see this IP change, then they can access the site and services. However, it can take up to 24 hours for the change to be seen for others. Therefore if you or someone else is experiencing weird page loads, or can\'t get something to load period, please be patient.
As always, if you have a domain name or custom subdomain added to any of the services, please update it now if you used an IP address to point it. Remember that you should never use IP addresses, if you are able to, try setting a CNAME on the domain "jcink.com" This way, when things like this happen, you will simply be automatically updated by me.
Apologies for any inconveniences.

That DOES explain alot... >_>
Took me forever to get on.
What's worse is that I have to wait for my domain to process the new IP.
>_<
Oh, well... not your fault, mate.
Jan 5 2008, 12:57 PM
I had to wait for mine as well, but it only took about 5 minutes.
Jan 5 2008, 01:10 PM
Mine still hasn't :S
Jan 5 2008, 01:12 PM
Well, like I said, some providers are slower than others and it can take up to 24 hours. Same drill as last time.
Jan 5 2008, 01:13 PM
Ahh ok, hopefully it hurries up, can't have my hockey site down with a gold medal game in the world juniors
Jan 5 2008, 01:13 PM
Instead of changing the IP, you should really just use CNAME, it will really help when these issues come along. That is if your service allows CNAME, which many of them do.
Jan 5 2008, 01:15 PM
we are using the Cname...
Jan 5 2008, 01:17 PM
Oh, I should read better, I thought you said IP. I use CNAME, and my forum works. What service do you use for your domain? I can look into estimated update times for you.
Jan 5 2008, 01:22 PM
Can't tell you, my other admin took care of all of it, but I remember last time, you said this so I told him to use the cname...
Jan 5 2008, 01:37 PM
See leafsfan, that's why you wait til after these things happen before getting a domain. I don't plan on getting one until another few weeks.
Jan 5 2008, 01:46 PM
What in the? That makes absolutely no sense, but ok...

Haha, I thought the " " revealed the sarcasm enough. Guess not.

Does yours still not work? Honestly, it should be working right now if it was pointed to b1.jcink.com...
Jan 5 2008, 05:01 PM
yeah, still nothing :S
Jan 5 2008, 05:01 PM
What is your domain? I'll make sure something else is not wrong.
Jan 5 2008, 05:02 PM
thehockeynation.com...
Jan 5 2008, 05:03 PM
Both of em work for me.

A proxy sees that it's online as well:

And there's people online... so... I'm guessing your ISP is just super slow to do the update from your end.
Jan 5 2008, 05:06 PM
some of them know the alternate domain, but yeah me or the other admin aren't getting anything :S
Jan 5 2008, 05:07 PM
Give it time then, sadly, sorry.
Jan 5 2008, 05:11 PM
Oh well, nothing you can do... My isp is terrible... <_<

Try flushing your DNS thing using their instructions. If the website is accessible to others and not me, I always do that and it works.

OMG what a relief. I thought i got ip banned for some unknown reason

My jcink domain still works, normal one still isn't
However it works with proxy sites :S
Jan 5 2008, 10:01 PM
I was just told by a friend that DynaDots DNS servers are really slow to update things for everyone... you are using them so that is probably why.
Jan 5 2008, 10:08 PM
Last time it was fine... Also, wouldn't that stop it working with a proxy or no?
Jan 5 2008, 10:43 PM
no it wouldn't stop it from working on a proxy because when you are on a proxy you are going to a different IP so that means u are going into there DNS not yours
