New profile layout (Done)
Apr 18 2008, 03:59 AMToday I have released a new profile layout coded from scratch to the forums. This has been a planned feature for a while now and is finally available to public.
Because this feature is so "big", I have placed it on these forums first so I can hear about any bugs/problems users run into with it. At this time it is not available to enable anywhere else, but should be if everything goes OK sometime this weekend or Sunday.
These profiles have many highlights, including:
- Recent posts and Topics displayed in tabs
- Comments
- Friends
- Music - now add more than one song! Separate music links by commas.
- Video - now add more than one Youtube video! Seperate video IDs by commas
- Easy access options menu, popup signature and comments
Members, please take the time to view your "settings" tab, which you'll find when you view your own profile. Change these settings to your liking; if you don't want comments, you can disable them, same with friend adds, or choose it how you want.
Please let me know in this topic about all issues you encounter (if any).

Known issues:
1. Personal photos aren't resizing
2. Posts are displayed in topics tab
3. Double click error on tabs. It disappears.
4. In IE, if images are too large, there is a stretch in the posts content area. - Quick fix by just thumbnailing all images.
5. Avatars aren't working on last viewed.
6. Word filters not working in comments
7. 400 char limit isnt real
6. The tab on/off style change does not work in IE (?)

It reminds me very much of Invision Power Board 2.0. While I'm not a huge fan of it, the features it provides is nice.

I have been messing around with it some more....and unless I am doing something wrong only 1 YouTube Video shows up. I put the comma in between the 2 Embed Codes and only 1 shows...I also tried putting a space after the comma and then the second embed code and still only got 1 Video to show.

Skullmonkey: in what way is it messed up? it looks fine for me. Screenshot it. Also, what the tab defaults to is open to debate, I chose maintitle because to make it titlemedium looked horrible. it doesn't match up very well at all. i also realize that maintitle isn't going to work for some people too (the effect on BGS and the rest of the skins here is fine, but the Camo blue - not so good), but these tabs have been a problem since the start. Another problem with them is going to be skin width. If you have a tiny skin width and it will get smushed a little... there's too much information.
I don't want to cheap out on the feature, so it does its best guess.
In any case though, adding .tabs and tabs2 to the CSS (which will be renamed and explained on wiki) it can be customized by the skinner.

Oh, you're right. I don't know if I can stop that, because those are being read off as "posts" in the database too, but I'll see.

If you double click a tab then nothing appears underneath them it just goes away.

Ah ok. It looks like that's because of your personal photo. They're not resizing properly to 150x150 if they're too big. I'll look into that.

I got it to happen for me on my windows in firefox. looks like some firefox issue. Not sure what that's all about but confirmed, will be looked into and hopefully fixed.

I see that when looking at the profiles the "Last Visitors" always shows the member with No Photo.....even though they have a Personal Photo...wondering if that is a bug or just they way it is.

Cool....I just figured that it was supposed to show either the Personal Pic or an Avatar and seeing that it was No Photo I figured it was by Personal Pic. Anyway glad I was able to catch that. Keep up the good work.

That was a problem related to just this board. I had a 100 character limit set on that field. Fixed now.
@coolmike: options are supposed to have the edit signature link.

Just take your time, and get it done right, rather than rush it and have it buggy, its the best way.
edit: found another one, but it does it with the real ones too and i don't know if you can fix it, its if you leave a really long message on one line it stretches the page, haha see your profile.

I Like the new look, I cant believe you coded that from scratch, Nice job i know that must have been a pain, But your hard works seems to have payed off.... I havent found any bugs that hasnt been found already... Please release it soon!

This will be explained in more detail as to why things like that are going to happen on some existing skins when I make an announcement about the release. The tabs are fully customizable though, and you can do that.

It's the same link. The layout is just shown as topics. It's more of a search engine feature suggestion. I'll keep it in mind if I ever do anything with that.

I figured it was the same, it just doesn't let you see more than five topics (I believe) It would be more handy to have a link to see them all, but like you said, you can search it easy enough.
