Moving Servers

Mar 31 2011, 02:33 AM

Today we announce scheduled plans to move to our new server. This system will offer expanded capacity, data protection, and better performance over our current one.

The move, unless there is a delay, will be conducted either April 5th at 2:00AM EDT or April 6th at 2:00AM EDT. Two nights have been scheduled in case there are any problems, we will try to aim for the first one.

During this time there will be a notice displayed that server upgrades are ongoing. Our maximum estimated time for completion is at around 9AM or 10AM EDT. While the upgrade is being done, you can watch our twitter for progress and status.

New Server Plans

Mar 14 2011, 10:59 AM

Today we are pleased to announce that we have purchased a new server for This system will offer expanded capacity, and better performance over our current one. It will also make general maintenance much easier.

Furthermore, one of the main reasons it was purchased is to help prevent what happened last month from ever occurring again. To put it simply, the new server has hardware that can create a live data mirror of all the forums and content in real-time. This means that even in the unfortunate case where a failure occurs; the server will simply remove the bad drive and keep on trucking like nothing ever even happened. This is a big win for both data security + uptime.

We've been in possession of the server for about a week and have been putting it through various tests to make sure it works right. We don't have a definite migration schedule to the new server right now - there are still some important things to do to prepare before a move is conducted. In fact, it will probably be another week or two of testing before we issue a migration, but we wanted to go ahead and announce our plans now.

We will be working all of the move process out to make it the smoothest we can, and everyone will know in advance when the move is conducted. Until then, as always, we thank you for your continued patience and support. smile.gif Staff

DST And Content Move

Mar 13 2011, 04:33 AM

Tonight we did some live maintenance and moved our content files (these consists of board attachments, images, etc) to a new hard drive. This was a straightforward, non-invasive process that was done completely live. The reports say all the necessary content was copied successfully. Downtime was about 3 minutes while we swapped it out though.

Let us know if you have any issues.

Also, DST is now in effect in the US. Remember to update your "My Controls" and Admin CP's time settings to reflect that.
