NETWORK UPGRADE FINISHED! So far the network upgrade is complete and we’re seeing much faster speeds. If you can’t reach your site yet, please wait an hour or so as the new IP address takes effect. If you have domain names to update, please set the IP up here:

Let me know if there are any issues.

Network Upgrades Tomorrow

On Oct 28th, we will be upgrading our network to add more bandwidth to the server. This will result in faster page loads and prepare for further expansion in the future. During the installation at 9AM there could be possible downtime, short, or long if old wiring needs to be cut or moved. This depends on what the technician feels is needed, but we will try to keep downtime to a minimum.

There is one thing that will need to happen; and that means the IP address will change again because we’re leaving to an entirely different internet provider. This doesn’t mean anything to you if you aren’t using a domain name, but if you are, I urge you to make sure you can modify your domain at this time, and update the information on file. For this service, however, I have purchased a static IP. This means the IP cannot change unless a call is made to the network provider, so this will be the last time you’ll likely have to change the IP for a while if all goes according to plan.

When I feel it’s time to move after testing the connection, it will be started hopefully on the same day. Our new IP address here.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Air Proxy, some fixes, and update

Oct 31 2008, 05:46 PM

Today someone reported to me that SSL on air proxy was no longer working. sad.gif This has now been fixed, thanks. Not sure when or why it stopped working but should work once again (before, it was apparently throwing page not found… the secure socket layer port was apparently closed for no apparent reason).

With that fixed, I’ve noticed from checking YT video cache on Air-Proxy it’s getting to be a popular feature. I’ve always had the crazy idea of showing off air proxy’s ability to display YT vids to the user, well now it does, whipped up the feature in 5 minutes. You’ll find a box that displays all of the day’s watched youtube videos (much like YTs front page, and their “Videos Being Watched Now.”) These pages load a little better than youtube (since the server is usually jammed up because of it…) so if you’re just bored and feel like watching the day’s vids - there you go.

As a side note, in case someone is freaking out: it doesn’t show any personal information with these files or anything or who downloaded them if you look. Just displays public downloaded videos from the day’s collection.

Hopefully this feature won’t explode the Air-Proxy server anymore than it already does get exploded from 9am-5pm every day wink.gif
